Untether AI is building the world’s highest performance pure-digital AI inference startup. We’re a rapidly growing Toronto-based startup, with employees across Canada and the US (and even a few outside North America), building next generation hardware AI accelerators for neural net inference. We are investing in software in a big way in order to make it as seamless as possible for researchers and developers to successfully deploy neural networks on our hardware.

To help grow our organization we are looking for an Accounting Generalist to manage the preparation and coordination of all required accounting transactions including the general ledger, revenue and receivables, expenditures and payables, payroll, fixed assets, inventories, and equity.

The successful candidate must be hands-on and work collaboratively with all team members of Untether AI Canadian and US entities, to successfully manage the following responsibilities:

    • Financial Reporting: Coordination and preparation of the monthly global accounting close utilizing QuickBooks Online. Prepare all required account reconciliation including cross-border transactions between the Canadian Parent and its US subsidiaries.
    • Support the CFO in the preparation of external financial reporting as well as financial operating forecasts.
    • Taxes and Government Subsidy Programs: Preparation and filing over the Canada HST/GST requirements. Support the preparation of the Company’s annual income tax filings with the outside service provider.
    • Administrate the annual SR&ED and quarterly OVIN project initiatives including the preparation of the required reporting to support the Company’s filings to the established deadlines.
    • Credit and Collections: Credit management, customer invoicing and cash collections.
    • Company Expenditures: Management over vendor purchase orders, invoice approvals and vendor cash disbursements.
    • Employee expense report management and disbursements.
    • Payroll Management: Canadian and US payroll preparation and coordination with Human Resources and our external payroll providers. Year end T-4 and W-2 preparation oversight.
    • Fixed Assets: Accounting, asset tagging and physical inventories.
    • Product costs and inventories: Support the CFO around the accounting and internal controls.
    • Assist in establishing departmental goals, policies, and operating controls and procedures.
    • Other finance and administrative duties as required.
    • Post Secondary education in Accounting or a related field.
    • 5-7 years of progressive experience in an Accounting or Finance role. Proven hands-on abilities with a start-up company.
    • High comfort level with both Canadian and US financial and operating environments.
    • Hardware experience, especially semiconductor experience, is greatly preferred.
    • Proficient with Google Suite, Intuit Quickbooks Online, Payroll Systems, Vendor Payment Platforms, Expense Report systems.
    • Proactive problem-solving skills.
    • Effective time management skills, self-motivated, critical attention to detail and deadlines.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
    • Analytical and detail-oriented, with good organizational skills.
    • Self-motivated high initiative and able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment with firm deadlines.
    • Builder mentality; always seeking process and system improvement and workflow efficiencies to support the Company’s growth.
