Essential Duties:
Innovate new approaches, processes and material solutions to address challenges in multi-material printing (e.g. polymers, ceramics and metals)
Lead experimental design, sample processing and advanced material characterization
Work closely with internal colleagues and external team members to reach program goals
Brief internal and external customers
Attend and present at conferences
Write research proposals, patent disclosures and journal publications
Required Skills:
The candidate should have experience planning, conducting and analyzing experiments. Hands-on experience with 3D printing techniques is required. Prior experience with one or more of the following techniques is desired: Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) printing, Laser Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT), Aerosol Jet Printing, Precision Micro-Dispensing, Digital Light Processing (DLP), two-photon lithography, binder jet. Experience with materials characterization techniques or electronics is a plus. In addition, the candidate should have creative problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently. A broad interest in innovation that addresses over-the-horizon automotive and aerospace problems is encouraged. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required.
Desired Skills:
Scientific understanding of printing processes and materials is required. A record of innovation and scientific achievement evidenced by multiple strong publications is desired. Experience in computer aided design (CAD) and programming (e.g., Python, Matlab) is a plus. Exposure or experience with simulation tools (Phase Field, MD, FEA) is a plus.
Required Education:
PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $104,000 - $174,000 + bonus + benefits.
