Metagenomi is seeking an Associate Engineer/Engineer I to join our Formulation Development team as a part of the  Process Engineering group.  In this role you will work on the development and optimization of stable formulations for mRNA-LNP and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Analytical Sciences, Pre-clinical Research and Manufacturing, QA and QC within the technical operations department. This role will be based in Emeryville, California.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Generate and execute study protocols under supervision and present study results in group settings
  • Perform assays and analytical characterization of nucleic acids and nanoparticle formulations (e.g. UV-Vis, DLS, and NTA)
  • Manage sample and sample submissions for analysis
  • Maintain data and perform data analysis on experimental data
  • Assist in conducting root cause analysis of manufacturing issues, and manage with lab inventory management and equipment maintenance
  • Coordinate and write as appropriate technical reports on key development findings
  • Assist in generation of timetables for development and manufacturing activities

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or related field with 3+ years or Masters degree with 1+ years in relevant experience in a process development laboratory or manufacturing
  • Experience with mRNA-LNP formulation development, technology transfer and support of production processes for the generation of clinical trial materials
  • Experience with tech transfers both internally and externally
  • Goal-oriented approach and demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and focus on time sensitive objectives
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes and implement effective solutions
  • Quickly learn and adapt to new software tools (Google Suite, Slack)
  • A collaborative, solutions oriented, drive to deliver

California Pay Transparency Disclosure:

This position is classified as an exempt position under the Federal Labor Standards Act.  The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $85,000 to $110,000 .  You will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
