About the role:
As part of the Camera Hardware Engineering Team, the Camera Test Engineer will own multiple camera module calibrations and test systems. They will use equipment and algorithms to validate sub-component and improve the overall camera module performance for our drones.
This person will have a good understanding of different aspects of design and testing. They will be comfortable traveling to module integrators in Asia to drive module test development efforts.
How you'll make an impact:
- Develop test equipment, algorithms, and methodologies to validate designs and provide significant feedback for design iterations
- Improve all camera modules for our next-generation drones
- Work closely with internal camera design, vehicle manufacturing, and module integrator to build the entire suite of camera calibration and performance test capabilities
- Develop multiple custom cameras to have a significant impact on our future roadmap and across the entire drone industry
What makes you a good fit:
- Proficient in Python and/or MATLAB; Python highly preferred
- Proven understanding of imaging systems and image quality metrics
- Ability to bring up extensive camera module tester selection including light panels, test charts, and test algorithms
- Ability to perform comprehensive camera module calibrations and performance characterization (SFR, LSC, color calibration, image sensor noise, Autofocus calibration, testing, etc.) and failure analysis
- Direct laboratory experience testing optical and camera modules
- Expertise in lens and illumination system design, testing, and validation
- Experience in optical design tools such as ZEMAX/CodeV and LightTools
Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $144,500 - 182,750*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.
