Atomic AI, Inc. is a well-funded, early-stage biotech company transforming the rational design of molecules and medicines through the cutting-edge fusion of artificial intelligence and structural biology. Atomic’s unique R&D platform, based on research featured on the cover of Science , provides new strategies to treat or cure previously undruggable diseases by targeting RNA structure. We are an interdisciplinary team working across computational and experimental biology and believe that our strongest asset is our people.

The opportunity

As a full-time Data Scientist on the Machine Learning team, you will work closely with scientists and engineers to advance our R&D technology platform for RNA structure prediction, target identification, and early drug discovery. You will lead the curation of datasets for ML training and validation, and devise and implement new strategies to test the accuracy of our ML models. Your analysis will guide the development of improved ML models and the targeted acquisition of new experimental data.

At Atomic AI, you will be an execution-focused self-starter with a passion for scientific research and a positive attitude when facing challenges. You will prioritize effectively amidst complexity, adapt nimbly to changing conditions, and grow outside of your comfort zone. You will collaborate thoughtfully and promote the success of all team members.

Primary responsibilities

  • Design and implement new validation strategies and metrics for our ML models.
  • Curate datasets for ML training and validation.
  • Analyze the accuracy of our ML predictions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work with ML scientists and engineers to guide the development of our ML models.

About you

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Strong expertise on 3D biomolecular structure demonstrated through publications in major scientific journals.
  • Proficiency in Python to curate and analyze data at scale and to implement new metrics that assess the accuracy of our ML predictions.
  • Conceptual understanding of ML model development and evaluation.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills, able to clearly communicate technical information to colleagues.

Pluses

  • Research experience related to RNA secondary and tertiary structure.

Salary Range (for all levels): $138,000/year to $250,000/year + equity + benefits
