Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
We are seeking a motivated and organized Development Engineer to join an existing integrated multi-disciplinary engineering team building advanced cryogenic test systems in support of HRL’s world-leading silicon quantum dot technologies.
This individual will be responsible for the development, integration, assembly, operation and maintenance of a wide variety of specialized electrical and mechanical systems and components.
Essential Duties:
Operate electronic test equipment to verify, evaluate, and troubleshoot instrumentation systems and components.
Provide design guidance to mechanical engineers and perform integration and test of mechanical assemblies.
Design fixtures, assembly aids, and small support equipment.
Use hand tools to perform integration and assembly tasks.
Produce engineering documentation including process instructions, block diagrams, netlists, schematic diagrams, low level drawings, and bills of materials.
Perform laboratory layout and movement of systems and equipment.
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment involving electrical and mechanical assembly, packaging, integration, test, and troubleshooting.
Must be able to read, generate, and understand engineering drawings, bills of materials, schematic diagrams, and assembly/process instructions.
Experience with Microsoft Visio and CAD software (SolidWorks is preferred).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to operate safely in a laboratory environment.
Ability to lift moderate sized test equipment and climb ladders and scaffolding.
Required Education:
BS or EET degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related discipline.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform tasks safely in a lab environment and be able to occassionally work on ladders and/or scaffolding. Must be able to lift/push/pull 15-20 pounds consistently.
Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $73,000 - $120,000 + bonus + benefits.
