The Mixed-Signals and Systems group at HRL Laboratories, LLC is a highly talented team of scientists and engineers with diverse backgrounds in integrated circuits who are passionate about creating and demonstrating innovative research concepts. As a senior digital design engineer on our team, you will be responsible for developing digital design subsystems from concept through to tape-out.

Essential Duties:
Perform all aspects of digital design including architecture development, interface definition, behavior description, RTL, synthesis, place and route, and emulation. Present details of work to colleagues during design reviews. Create and manage work plans to meet or exceed schedule deadlines. Provide written and oral summaries of work performed as needed (e.g. for reports).

Required Skills:
Fluency in hardware description languages (e.g. Verilog, VHDL) and ability to use scripting and GUI to automate verification and data processing. Accustomed to test driven development, configuration change management, and Agile coding methodologies.  Understanding of IC command and control interfaces, circuit design techniques, and control theory. Ability to use typical FPGA and IC design tools including Cadence Innovus and behavioral level simulation environments such as Matlab/Simulink.  Familiarity with semiconductor IC technologies (e.g., CMOS, BiCMOS).

Desired Skills:
At least 5 years of experience bringing VLSI designs from concept to completion. Experience with laboratory test equipment and characterization of hardware is required. A digital background with expertise in serial IO links, data paths, embedded memory, Compute-in-Memory, Radiation-Hardened-by-Design architectures are preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, oral and written communication, interaction with vendors/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work well in a team and independently. Must be sufficiently mobile to work within confined spaces and have both visual and hearing acuity.
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Active SSBI is a plus.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 - $200,000 + bonus + benefits.
