Director of Curriculum Product Management

DeepLearning.AI is an education-tech company that was founded and is led by Andrew Ng, the world’s leading AI thought leader, the co-founded Coursera and Google Brain, a Stanford Professor and the former chief scientist at Baidu.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, motivated and passionate Director of Curriculum Product Management to build, own and operate ALL aspects of our Product Team activities across our full time employees and our globally-distributed contractor workforce.


Responsibilities:

In this role, you will report to the company’s Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for:

1. Managing the Curriculum Product team
- Manage the Curriculum Product team activities, plan capacity and manage team bandwidth, hold team accountable for deliverables.
- Own hiring and day-to-day people management of the Full Time Employee and Contractor team including: Hiring process, Onboarding, Regular 1:1 meetings, Ongoing feedback and ongoing reviews, Comp reviews.

2. Curriculum Product roadmap and strategy and execution
- Work closely with our Principal Curriculum Product Architect and the COO to determine our Curriculum Product development roadmap.
- This includes planning and delivering on a list of programs to launch, timelines and budgets, and supporting securing the required partnerships.
- Own timely and on-budget delivery of new launches, and work in close collaboration with Principal Curriculum Product Architect to ensure launches meet quality standards.

3. Program performance and analytics
- Improve existing and develop new metrics to measure the performance of our programs.
- Develop a reporting cadence and format to the leadership and broader team.
- Proactively work with this new data to suggest changes to our offerings and workflows to improve performance.
- Hold team accountable for data-focused work processes and propagate a data-driven culture in the organization

4. Organizational Leadership
- Participate in company leadership meeting, contribute to high level strategic discussions.
- Collaborate with other leaders in the organization to ensure smooth development, launch and maintenance of our product offerings.

This is a full-time position based in the United States. Our team operates mostly in the US west coast time zone. If you do not live in the San Francisco Bay Area, travel to this area once per quarter for 3-5 days at a time will be expected.  You must already have, or be able to obtain, authorization to work legally in the United States.
    • 7+ years of work experience, of which 3+ years of team leadership
    • Experience working for tech startups, ideally leading course dev teams
    • Domain (edtech) experience - incl. some technical education experience
    • Ability to work Pacific Time zone and travel to the Palo Alto office multiple times a year (even 1/month)

    • Strong people manager. Able to manage managers. (hiring, team morale & motivation, builds & develops team members, pushes team to get things done & holds them accountable when not)
    • Entrepreneurial spirit(hustle and work hard, make decisions fast based on limited information, comfortable with change, can add structure to ambiguous situations)
    • Process/systems builder (tinkering with processes to improve them, build efficiency, predictability, resilience)
    • Analytical thinker(set, review and understand data and metrics, and what moves them)
    • Strategic planning/thinking (portfolio design, think through market needs and position, product launch timeline and plan)
    • Deep pedagogical/teaching understanding & instincts
    • Foundational technical AI/data understanding - ability to take 50%+ of our classes
