Director of Verification

Axelera in Eindhoven

This is a senior leadership role within one of the Europe’s highest profile Semiconductor start-up companies. The Director of Verification will drive an international Verification team as well as influence development within Axelera’s multicore in-memory-compute SoC. The Verification Director will devise the Verification roadmap for next-generation projects, and be hugely influential in the ongoing success of the company.

The Director of Verification will be an experienced Verification expert with a strong track record of major verification leadership roles within ASIC development, from initial concept to final release. The Director of Verification will be a natural leader, able to inspire and influence the team, and have credibility when working with senior technical colleagues at Lead and Director level.

This role calls for a hands-on leader with a vision and capable of leading a team in executing that vision. The director will be responsible for an organization of 10-15 engineers internally and managing external resources.

This role is to be based in the Eindhoven office however flexible working is available.

    • Test specification to metric driven sign-off
    • Hardware Verification Languages theory and practice, including usage in RTL verification of Soc Ours is a Verilog / System Verilog environment, with a mix of UVM, Python and directed verification
    • Strong knowledge of RTL test-plan generation, assertion based and formal verification techniques and coverage analysis
    • Directed and Constrained Random test approaches. Embedded programming experience would be an advantage
    • Knowledge of RISC-V would be an advantage
    • Lead the verification team, drive methodology and strategy for the verification of high performance SOC’s
    • Drive the test bench architecture, test plan and test bench development for full chip and subsystem verification
    • Mentor and lead a team of verification engineers to complete unit, subsystem and chip level verification
    • Develop and maintain methodology, flows, and sign-off criteria verification team
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, engineering, or a similar discipline
    • 20 years of work experience in silicon design/ verification roles
    • 10+ years of people management experience, with a proven track record of building teams and capable of attracting, motivating, and energizing the very best.
    • Experience in verification of multi-million gate ASICs, SoC system interconnect, CPU subsystems or Networking fabrics
    • Ability to communicate effectively within the team, across teams and with external parties
    • Self-starter and highly motivated
    • Fluent in English, both in speaking and writing
    • Standard verification methodologies like UVM
    • Coverage sign offs for tapeout
    • Continuous integration methodology, architecting regression test-suites
    • Setting up processes and checks for receiving releases from IP vendors and providing IP releases to internal teams
    • Project management, milestone definition and planning
    • You are a team player who likes to elaborate technical concepts together with your colleagues
    • Able to work autonomously and plan and perform research tasks
    • You have a strong sense of responsibility and want to “Make the impossible possible”
    • Experience with Emulation platforms
    • Experience with FPGA verification platforms
    • Fluency in English (Dutch would be an plus)
