We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a thirst for new technology and innovation to join our talented team here at SafeAI.  In this role, you will be responsible for designing the electrical systems that enable SafeAI to retrofit hardware to mining and construction vehicles to facilitate autonomous operation. You will use your knowledge of electrical systems to define the architecture of the system, determine the interfaces needed to control vehicle systems, choose electrical and electromechanical components, and oversee partners during manufacturing. Your designs will need to function safely and reliably in harsh conditions.  This role will involve planning, drawing and building prototype electrical hardware such as harnesses, life cycle testing, and working hands-on in the field when needed to test designs.
Key Responsibilities:
·       Designing the electrical architecture for SafeAI's Autonomy System.
·       Evaluating components based on function, reliability, safety, and availability
·       Designing, installing, and testing PCBs and harnesses
·       Performing power budgeting, selecting appropriate conductors
·       Designing Power Distribution Modules for autonomy hardware kits.
·       Overseeing production by contract manufacturers.
·       Rapid prototyping of electrical hardware
·       Designing fail-safe electrical systems
·       Developing sensor interface modules
·       Reviewing and approving 3rd party designs
·       Maintaining an electrical documentation library using strict version control
·       Working closely with mechanical engineers on electrical mounts and harness routing
Qualifications and Experience:
●      Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar
●      Experience designing, fabricating, and testing electrical components and hardware
●      Knowledge of electrical fabrication techniques
●      Experience with power usage analysis, selecting appropriate conductors & circuit protection
●      Experience with selecting appropriate connectors
●      General knowledge of automotive electrical systems
●      Experience with rapid prototyping
●      Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly & Design for Serviceability
●      Ability to read and understand mechanical schematics
●      Comfortable using common hand tools such as ratchet crimps, strippers, cutters
●      Confident using power tools such as soldering iron, heat gun, re-work station etc.
●      Proficient with electrical design and development software tools
Preferred Experience:
●      Knowledge of automotive electrical standards
●      Hands-on experience working on automotive electrical systems
●      Experience with wiring harnesses design and routing
●      Knowledge about automotive grade electromechanical connectors
●      Experience working on safety critical systems and standards such as ISO 26262
●      Familiar with FMEA / FTA and similar
●      Experience with heavy mining / construction machinery

The base salary range for this position is $120K - $170K per year. SafeAI’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
