Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.

We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join an existing integrated multi-disciplinary engineering team building advanced cryogenic test systems in support of HRL’s world-leading silicon quantum dot technologies. The individual will contribute to the characterization, qualification and analysis of new hardware test systems.

Essential Duties:
Conduct electrical measurements to characterize and validate analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits, printed circuit boards, and signal chains.
Perform simulation of signal & noise generation, propagation, and device performance.
Troubleshoot electrical hardware failure modes and perform root cause analysis.
Summarize technical results using oral and written reports to aid in the development of platform and system hardware.

Required Skills:
An interest in Circuit Design and Test
Excellent problem solving skills with good mechanical aptitude and strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills: work well in a creative team environment, possess, and have willingness to train / mentor others.
Must be able to perform tasks safely in a lab environment and be able to climb and work on ladders and/or scaffolding.
Ability to lift and move small to moderate sized test equipment.
Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment.

Desired Skills:
Hands on experience with design and testing of electronic systems including  electronic circuits, transmission lines, and packaged devices.
Experience with high speed RF/microwave and digital test and measurement tools and techniques including vector network analysis (VNA), spectrum analysis, time domain reflectometry/transmission (TDR/TDT), real-time and sampling oscilloscopes.
Experience with computer modeling software (eg. HFSS, Simulink) strongly preferred.
Familiarity with linear time-invariant systems, applications of signals and systems, and signal fidelity.
Programming experience (MATLAB, Python, other modern scientific programming language) and familiarity with PCB design principles is a plus.
Basic computer skills (spreadsheets, presentations, word processing) required.

Required Education:
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics or related field.
Additional work experience may be considered for more advanced positions.

Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000 - $101,000 + bonus + benefits.
