Reporting to the Global People Officer, you as the Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will play a key role designing and building programs that influence employee behavior, work culture and the employee brand of Woven by Toyota. The ideal candidate will also be a key contributor to the positive development of our organization and team culture and a senior member of the overall HR leadership team.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), based in Japan, is a seasoned strategic thinker with years of experience in leading DEI transformation within large multinational companies. You are excited to partner closely with the leaders of the business to develop, implement and drive Woven by Toyota’s global DEI strategy.

The scope of this role is unique as a DEI liaison with Toyota, including exchanging best practices and leveraging the partnership for the benefit of both companies. We value the opportunity for Toyota (and other suppliers) employees to work on assignment, and you are responsible for creating an inclusive and equitable experience for our secondee population. Toyota is driving innovation in people practices globally and you will build relationships with colleagues across the Toyota family of companies.

    • Develop early intervention tools and quick win strategies to ensure proper progress is being made towards longer goals
    • Support the development of the business-driven DEI Taskforce to engage the grassroots activists and influencers, providing guidelines and supporting the development and evolution of ERGs/BRGs which inform business strategy and user experience.
    • Accelerate inclusive leadership capability building at scale, for leaders to be able to provide authentic, vulnerable leadership and role modeling to their teams.
    • Build a practice of commitment, accountability and action to progress diversity representation amongst leaders that is based on metrics and data insights, de-biasing Processes and Policies and Establishing Systemic Equity
    • Build DEI awareness, knowledge and capability with HR, leaders, managers and employees.
    • Collaborate with internal partners (e.g. HR, Sustainability, Communications, Employee Relations) to align the DEI strategy with their respective organizations’ strategies and capabilities
    • Build and develop visibility through attendance at conferences/events and network with relevant external professional organizations to identify best practices and determine applicability to Woven by Toyota
    • Maintain and continue to develop expert knowledge of DEI by researching effective DEI practices, monitoring industry developments, evaluating emerging trends, and conducting benchmark comparisons
    • At least 5 years of DEI experience with 10 or more total years of business experience.
    • Solid understanding of both Japanese and global business culture
    • Strategic thinker who understands and can effectively articulate the business case for diversity
    • Proven experience in developing and implementing global and or regional D&I strategies with demonstrated results
    • Experience influencing individuals who do not have a direct reporting relationship
    • Strong comfort with a startup environment or high-growth company, where everyone is encouraged to participate in and contribute across all teams
    • Possesses a mix of intellectual curiosity, creative thinking and pragmatism; can translate bold thinking and strategies into practical solutions and bring these ideas forward
    • Has a data driven approach with strong analytical skills, able to create the right people metrics and implement solutions to drive positive change
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to drive change without authority, think proactively, manage through ambiguity and function independently
    • Post-graduate education in Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Social Psychology, or similar.
    • Bi-lingual Japanese and English
