Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
We are seeking a motivated and organized Electrical Engineer to join an existing integrated multi-disciplinary engineering team building advanced cryogenic test systems in support of HRL’s world-leading silicon quantum dot technologies. The individual will be responsible for the design, simulation, and development of a wide variety of specialized electrical systems and components. The candidate will interface with other designers, system architects, and scientists to derive requirements and guide designs for electronic subsystems and components that will be integrated into more complex systems.
Essential Duties:
Oversee electrical components design and PCB schematic & layout
Execute common industry practices regarding hardware design review processes with core group of design engineers
Perform electrical simulations of component performance using finite element method solvers and RF simulation tools
Capture design requirements and adhere to established process documentation control
Work with scientists and quantum engineers to develop electrical systems through simulation and analysis
Produce engineering documentation including process instructions, block diagrams, netlists, schematic diagrams, low-level drawings, and bills of materials
Required Skills:
Minimum 4 years of experience in laboratory or manufacturing environment involving electronics component development and PCB design
Strong working knowledge of PCB software design environments (Cadence Allegro is preferred) and PCB manufacturing standards
Familiarity with finite element method solvers for electromagnetic structures (e.g. Ansys HFSS)
Ability to work well in a creative team environment, possess excellent communication skills, and have willingness to train / mentor others
Ability to spend long periods of time at a computer monitor, and ability to travel.
Required Education:
Minimum of BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Additional experience may be considered for more advanced positions.
Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $104,000 - $174,000 + bonus + benefits.
