THE ROLE
You will be responsible for leading both hardware engineering (ME + EE) and manufacturing functions in China, working closely with other engineering leaders in the company to ideate, design, manufacture and deliver the robotic picking solutions powered by AI.
In addition to technology, you should act as a good bridge between the HW team and other functions, in Shenzhen, Silicon Valley and other deployment & sales teams in the US and Europe.
This is not a remote role and requires full-time presence in Shenzhen, China.
YOU WILL
Build an effective R&D process for our AI-driven HW and introduce disciplines into our product development lifecycles, such as BOM tracking, design reviews, etc.
Improve our unit economics and supply chain management. Ready our products for mass production.
Communicate directly and effectively with other leaders and make well-informed strategic decisions collectively.
Work with the Product, Business Development and Solutions teams to refine requirements, break down ambiguous, abstract requirements into concrete technical specifications.
Identify critical gaps in skill set and experiences and fill in the missing to support the rapid expansion of our robotics solutions.
YOU HAVE
Core requirements
Experience in hardware product lifecycle management and manufacturing automation equipment at scale.
Strategic thinking and the ability to make hard trade-offs between quality and cost/time.
Experience in dealing with complications with oversea deployments (such as shipping, labor cost) and a solid understanding in designing for deployment.
Fluency in English.
Nice to haves
Working experience in international companies in China.
People management experiences in companies with similar values (learning constantly, striving for empathy and taking on the impossible, together).
Experiences working in related fields, such as autonomous driving, AIoT, etc.
A broad range of knowledge base and interests ranging from SWE / AI to HW.
Familiarity with supply chain management.
