Position Summary:

Samsung Research America is looking for a visionary leader to spearhead SoC Lab in Mountain View, CA. The vision of the SoC Lab is to provide innovative SoC architecture, bus / memory subsystem, multimedia subsystems and key IP blocks for future Samsung Galaxy products (Smartphones, tablets and future devices). You will lead a team to define and develop high performance SoC architecture for various Galaxy device lineups by directly co-working with Samsung's strategic SoC partners. To achieve this goal, you will also co-work not only with Samsung MX headquarter team but with key R&D teams around the globe.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with headquarter teams and lead local lab engineers for innovative SoC architectures
  • Work directly with key SoC partners to define an optimal architecture for the best user experience
  • Define SoC specification / requirements for future Samsung smartphones and tablets
  • Analyze computing blocks including CPU/GPU/NPU and derive state-of-the-art SoC architecture
  • Optimize multimedia subsystem including ISP, video, and display controllers in SoC
  • Evaluate and optimize performance for mobile SoCs
  • Define & develop SoC evaluation methodology and tools
  • Analysis of overall SoC HW and SW analysis of key mobile use-cases
  • Analyze smartphone users’ workload analysis and perform system-level optimization to improve SoC performance / power efficiency
  • Define HW-based security architecture

Qualifications:

  • MS / Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering / Computer Science
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with management experience
  • Strong foundations in mobile SoC architecture / performance analysis
  • Hands-on experience of SoC system-level performance evaluation and optimization
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux kernel architecture, device drivers, and Android platform
  • Knowledge of ARM processor architecture and memory subsystem
  • Knowledge of GPU architecture and Graphics applications
  • Knowledge of NPU architecture and machine learning
  • Knowledge of security architecture
  • Knowledge of mobile multimedia systems including camera, video, display and audio

Our total rewards programs are designed to motivate and engage exceptional talent. The base pay range for roles at this level is $ 231,050 and $358,750, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.
