Intern - Power and Analog Electronics Engineer

Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.

We are looking for an intern who can contribute technical expertise and work with a team of scientists and engineers that designs, fabricates, integrates, and tests a state of the art power electronics subsystem.

Essential Duties:
Support and assist a diverse team of scientists and engineers for design, simulation, fabrication, and integration of advanced power electronics and analog circuits in developing state-of-the-art power electronics subsystems. Set up and conduct testing of power electronics components and subsystems, and report results to technical staff.

Required Skills:
Some experience in testing and integrating power, control, or analog electronics.  Experience in wiring, constructing, fabricating, assembling, or repairing physical items. Experience with printed circuit board layout (e.g. Altium) and circuit simulation (e.g. SPICE) is a plus.
Working knowledge of switch-mode power electronics circuits, electronic test equipment and techniques, digital logic, and safety. Basic knowledge of analog and signal conditioning. Working knowledge of wiring and interconnects is desired. Knowledge of magnetic component design and construction, and radio frequency circuits is a plus.

Desired Skills:
Electrical/Electronics fabrication (prepare wiring harnesses, solder, etc.), computer programming (e.g. Matlab, Python, C/C++, etc.), and debugging electrical circuits.

Physical Requirements:
Applicant must be able to interact professionally with co-workers and customers and prepare written and oral presentations. Ability to work well in a team and independently.

Required Education:
Graduate student in Electrical Engineering with hands-on experience in power and analog electronics. Coursework in circuits and power electronics. Coursework in electromagnetics and/or antennas is a plus.

Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required.

Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $50 - $55 per hour.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
