Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.

Looking for a CAD engineer to work on custom physical layout for novel technology and semiconductor process developments. Need to interface with multi-disciplinary teams to understand various design and wafer fabrication processing aspects to intelligently draft and assemble design blocks that are later patterned on wafers processed in our world class research and semiconductor fabrication facility. Ideal candidate will also develop and support basic Process Design Kit (PDK) for these R&D technologies - so prior semiconductor processing knowledge is a plus.
Essential Duties:
Responsible for custom semiconductor CAD layout and reticle assembly work
Conduct reviews at different phases as necessary
Work with multiple groups to release layouts and order photolithography mask plates
Create/edit codes for DRC and automation purposes
Interface with IT support group for EDA software maintenance and updates
Good documentation practices
Communicate and co-ordinate both within working group and with external groups

Required Skills:
2-3 years minimum in semiconductor design and layout industry
Advanced proficiency in CAD design work with layout experience with at least one of these: Cadence/Klayout/AWR/ similar EDA software
Experience with creating/editing DRC rules with tools like Calibre, Assura

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree with a major in EE, CS, or related science/engineering field

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure with deadlines
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
Ability to stay focused for detail oriented work
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally and have a focus on customer service for internal customers

Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required (active clearance is a plus).

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $73,000 - $120,000 + bonus + benefits.
