As a Manager of Electrical Engineering, you will lead a team of talented electrical engineers to deliver future generations of Shield AI products. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a variety of different engineering disciplines, including mechanical, systems, thermal, and software engineering, to establish the electrical foundation of Shield AI’s autonomous systems. Your team will contribute to the integration of state-of-the-art technologies, sensors, SoCs, analog/digital circuits, power, radio communications devices, etc.

Salary Range:  Base + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)
Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. Information on the benefits offered is here. All offers are contingent on a cleared background check.

Location guidelines-
Onsite = 5 days/week
Hybrid = Several days in the office
Remote = Remote but able to come to the office as requested for business needs

    • Lead the electrical engineering team based in San Diego (7-10 people)
    • Organize, manage, and ensure success of specific projects for our quadcopter and VBAT aircraft product lines
    • Oversee team hardware design, verification, test solutions, and production release
    • Help define next generation product hardware architectures
    • Provide technical design input/review to your team and all electrical engineering teams
    • Provide technical and professional mentoring to your team
    • Engage cross functionally with product management, program management, mechanical engineering, embedded engineering, business development, and other company leaders
    • Create processes that enable an efficient work flow and scalable team growth
    • Track team progress against program/project schedules
    • Report status, risks, accomplishments, expectations to senior leadership
    • Responsible for sourcing, screening, hiring, and onboarding of new teammates in San Diego
    • Assign tasks to team (projects, fires, investigations, designs, etc.)
    • As needed, find strategic 3rd party technical partners to support the team
    • B.S. in electrical engineering, or equivalent
    • 8+ years relevant industry experience
    • Management experience or equivalent leadership experience
    • Have worked through multiple product design cycles
    • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor team members
    • Strong understanding of engineering design process
    • Have led cross functional teams to execute product designs from concept to production
    • You have experience with: circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, board layout, and circuit testing
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication
