The Sensors & Electronics Laboratory (SEL) of HRL Laboratories LLC seeks a dynamic individual to manage external technical suppliers and providers of R&D services to support and expand its internal R&D portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to, front-end wafer fabrication suppliers, back-end wafer fabrication suppliers, analytical services, and failure analysis suppliers. The chosen candidate should generate and maintain an up-to-date body of knowledge of technical supplier capabilities in business area of relevance to SEL and HRL, create internal business processes to leverage and utilize the supplier base, and assist SEL and HRL research staff in effectively leveraging those capabilities.
Essential Duties:
Maintain up-to-date information on current and evolving R&D service capabilities, including wafer fabrication vendors and analytical/FA vendor capabilities. Analyze present external supplier engagements to generalize R&D services that will be captured under this framework, establish contracts, service agreements, and logistical arrangements with R&D service vendors and HRL procurement group. Serve as a resource to SEL R&D staff to obtain results through R&D service vendors, including identifying and removing barriers to successful vendor access. Travel to vendor locations, if required. Hold vendors accountable for cost, scope and schedule of R&D services. Identify and develop metrics for HRL’s R&D vendor services so as to quantify the benefits to SEL and HRL R&D operations.
Required Skills:
10+ years in the semiconductor industry, with experience in wafer fabrication, process integration, failure analysis, and/or electrical measurement. Experience in obtaining results through external vendors.
Required Education:
Bachelor, Master’s, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or similar discipline.
Physical Requirements:
Proficiency in use of computers, verbal and written communication, interaction with vendors/customers/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Special Requirements:
U.S. Persons status required. Travel to vendor locations and vendor conferences, up to 20% of time, may be required.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $159,000 - $264,000 + bonus + benefits.
