Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
Essential Duties:
Perform work associated with HRL Material Services Department operations including, Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing, Movement between satellite sites (Calabasas, Lost Hills, Camarillo) , Chemical Material handling, Shuttle Driving, Office and Lab furniture movement and set up.
Required Skills:
Flexibility to work in various divisions and assignments within S&R including. Chemical handing, Movement, Storage, Shuttle program, Shipping, Receiving and Space planning: Office and lab set up and bread down.
Flexibility to work at all S&R Satellite sites docks in Calabasas, Lost Hills, and Camarillo.
Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs
Use movement tools and equipment when required (Fork lift, Pallet jack, Dollies and A-frames)
Move equipment, furniture, shipments, deliveries, etc. from one location to another
Arrange furniture in offices per layout instructions.
Perform final inspection on office moves/steps and report to OPS Process Improvement Manager
Use computer information systems, Cost Point ERP systems, Excel, Word, Share point,& Fed-ex Ship manager and UPS World ship to assist in job performance.
Timely data entry completion flow of receiving paperwork receipts into cost point ERP system
Assure completion of record keeping in Shipping, Receiving, Exports, DG declarations, Inspection reports & training record keeping.
Monitor storage request, assigning locations, space allocation and assuring movement is completed in a timely manner
Assist in Shuttle program. Schedules, alternate routes, usage, extra picks ups, drop-offs & planned Maintenance.
Respond and resolve logistical issues including lost packages and opening and closing freight damage claims that affect the quality of all ongoing processes and procedures by our Lab partners
Verify the completeness and quality of work done by vendors; report concerns of performance to leads and management
Make sure disposed office furniture and hardware is placed in the proper recycle bins (metal waste, e-waste, mixed waste)
Deliver & set up laboratory furniture and equipment as requested by Lab personnel
Execute movement jobs on calendar on time and mark completed; discuss issues and delays w/management in a timely manner
Highly reliable, team player, ability to work with little to no supervision and perform work associated with HRL Material Services Department & Operations.
Ability to work with different personalities.
Flexibility to work swing shift, weekends and OT when requested.
This position requires an individual that is professional, outgoing, proactive and highly organized. This position will interface with all departments of the company. The ideal candidate can perform effectively in a fast-paced environment where multitasking and prioritizing is essential.
Basic computer skills including the ability to use the Microsoft Office software suite: Word, Excel, Office, etc. Truck, forklift, and materiel handling equipment experience desired.
Physical Requirements:
Responsibilities include heavy lifting on a regular
basis, working in a small team environment, flexibility in job assignments, and continuous interaction with HRL population.
The employee is required to stand; walk hilly topography; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift equipment> up stairs, up ramps, elevators, push carts uphill's, work Inside box trucks and shipping containers & warehouse environment. The employee must periodically lift and/or move up to 60 pounds -use team lift and lift equipment when necessary.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Material Handler Skills and Qualifications:
Organization, Analyzing Information , Dealing with Complexity, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Process Improvement, Safety Management, Inventory Control, Lifting, Data Entry Skills
Knowledge in DG Shipments (IATA and CFR49). Import and Export. UPS World Ship and Fed-Ex Ship Manager and Freight forwarders is preferred but not required.
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required. Valid California Driver’s license required must be at least 21 years of age and must have a clean driving record. Must possess the ability to obtain & maintain Haz-Mat, DOT, IATA, and other training certifications.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $36.50 - $42.50 per hour + bonus + benefits.
