Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
Assist in the discovery and development of high-temperature refractory alloys through modeling approaches such as density functional theory, molecular dynamics, and machine learning. Work independently, follow detailed instructions, and suggest improvements to existing models. Position will require frequent technical communication with team members, including oral and written reporting.
Essential Duties:
Run density functional theory and other materials simulations. Analyze computed results and experimental measurements. Build predictive models.
Required Skills:
Applicant should have experience with programming (e.g., Python), Unix command line, and familiarity with solid-state materials theory/computation.
Required Education:
Graduate or experienced upper-division undergraduate student currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of performing extended analysis at computer workstations.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position $35 - $50 per hour.
