The Infrared Initiative at HRL Laboratories is a highly talented team with diverse backgrounds in integrated circuit design, advanced packaging and integration, novel signal processing and algorithm development, and integration / characterization of highly complex digital/mixed signal systems and subsystems. We work on commercial and government applications in an innovative research and development environment with a charter to put technology into customer hands. We are looking for a VLSI designer with strong mixed signal design skills.
Essential Duties:
Daily activities will include design and development of ROIC and mixed signal ASIC for sensors used imaging applications. This includes performing in-depth circuit analysis and simulations, implementing custom analog circuits and architectures, developing and integrating performance models, performing verification and integration, and working through the chip tape out process. A successful candidate are self-starters, can work autonomously, and as part of a cross functional team in a project based environment. General duties will include performing all aspects of the development process from ideation through design verification testing. Technical duties require candidate to present details of work to colleagues, stakeholders, and customers, create and manage and execute to plan, and document technical aspects of their work. Basic understanding of imaging sensors, memories, or similar array chip architectures. Good understanding of scripting, or programming languages. Familiarity with signal processing, different IC architectures and interface standards. Knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering, and circuit device principles. Use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and proficiency in writing for reporting.
Required Skills:
At least 5 year of experience with strong background in electrical engineering and integrated circuit design. Experience with low noise analog circuits design, low power and low noise ADC design are required. Experience with CMOS design tools such as Cadence, Spectre, SpectreRF, Assura, and Calibre are desired. Hands on layout and lab validation skills are also desired.
Physical Requirements:
Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, oral and written communication, interaction with vendors/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work well in a team and independently. Must be sufficiently mobile to work within confined spaces and have both visual and hearing acuity.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, or related scientific discipline
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required. Ability to obtain/maintain security clearances (post-start) is a plus.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 - $200,000 + bonus + benefits.
