About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to lead the NGS and Molecular technologies team at Deep Genomics. As the Principal Scientist, NGS and Molecular Technologies, you will lead efforts in evaluating, integrating, and implementing and advancing our NGS, genomics,molecular and cellular technology capabilities. This role requires a deep understanding of NGS method development, genomic data generation, screening technologies and a passion for developing cutting-edge genomic technologies.  You will work closely with the Computational Biology, screening, and discovery teams to design experiments, analyze NGS data and help interpret results for cross-functional teams.

    • Evaluate, integrate, and implement NGS and other nucleic acid technologies to support the molecular validation of gene therapy and genome editing projects.
    • Collaborate with platform teams to identify and develop suitable sequencing and molecular assay technologies for profiling and characterizing AI generated targets.
    • Build and lead a team of scientists dedicated to the development and implementation of sequencing, molecular profiling, and assay technologies across single-molecule and cellular assays to broad -omics applications.
    • Establish and manage strategic partnerships with CROs, vendors, and biotechs for essential assays as needed.
    • Design, plan, and execute experiments both independently and as part of a collaborative team to support research activities, project goals, and platform advancements.
    • Work with the computational biology and screening teams to develop analytical methods.
    • Troubleshoot and optimize experimental designs.
    • Maintain detailed lab notebooks and report data and findings to the scientific team.
    • Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, gene therapy, immunology, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience, Masters/B.S. with 12+ years of experience.
    • Extensive experience with NGS technology.
    • Proven ability to build and lead a scientific team.
    • Strong interest in leveraging technology in scientific research, with a track record of identifying and integrating new technology platforms into therapeutic development processes.
    • In-depth understanding of the therapeutic discovery and development process, particularly for cell and gene therapies.
    • Experience with quantitative analysis of on-/off-target effects and cell penetrance in gene editing and/or gene therapy.
    • Proficiency in multiple of the following: phenotypic assays, gene editing, automation, high-content imaging, flow cytometry, and -omics technologies.
    • Experience with automation and employing analytical, computational, and statistical methodologies to enhance development workflows.
    • Ability to generate precise, reliable data and interpret it effectively.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate scientific questions into technology and assay solutions.
    • Independent, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills for conveying technical information clearly.
    • Ability to manage projects and influence team members effectively.
    • Enthusiastic about working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
    • Experience in designing, developing, and executing high-quality cell profiling assays or screens using various technologies for biological research or therapeutic purposes.
    • Knowledge of single-cell technologies beyond sequencing.
    • Expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques.
    • Experience building and managing NGS Core capabilities at scale with automationProven ability to work effectively in cross-functional team environments.
