The ecommerce experience has been static for 20+ years and is perhaps the largest opportunity in the startup space today. Livestream shopping is a $170B GMV market in China and has grown 100% YoY. Retail is a $5T market opportunity!
💻 Role
We're looking to hire our first recruiter in Europe to lead our recruiting initiatives as we expand our business. You'll have the opportunity to:
- Build and execute a strategy for recruiting and establishing our employer brand in Europe. You'll use your market knowledge to build our approach for recruiting in each country and department as well as execute against it.
- Identify talented candidates. You'll partner with hiring managers to identify a high caliber of candidates and reach out efficiently to potential candidates.
- Find or create new sources of passive talent. LinkedIn might be a great tool, but you'll always look for new and unique ways to source talented folks.
- Emphasize diversity and inclusivity. You'll look for traditional and non-traditional methods to increase the likelihood we can bring new perspectives to the team.
- Screen candidates. You'll serve as the filter of the top of the funnel to maximize the hiring team’s time and focus on interviewing the best candidates.
- Successfully juggle a variety of roles at once. At any given time you could be working on filling 5-10 (or more at times) open roles across multiple departments.
- Assist with developing job posts, hiring plans, and rubrics. You'll work with the hiring manager to tighten up job descriptions, screening rubrics, and manage the hiring process along the way.
- Iterate on candidate feedback. You'll smooth rough edges in the hiring process by iterating on feedback from candidates or other signals.
- Nurture relationships with individuals and groups. You'll help build personal relationships through introductions, references, or by facilitating participation with community groups.

- You have at least five years of experience recruiting across a variety of role types. This includes departments like Go-To-Market, Operations, and Engineering. You enjoy the challenge of finding exceptional talent for hard-to-fill positions. Bonus points if you have deep experience hiring for Go-To-Market teams!
- You have a deep understanding of the talent market in Europe. You have recruited across multiple geographic locations in Europe and enjoy pairing your market expertise alongside hiring needs to identify top talent for roles.
- You're comfortable with ownership. Whatnot is one of the fastest-growing startups in history, and hiring is critical to our success. You should feel comfortable moving uncomfortably fast and owning your work with very little oversight.
- You provide an incredible candidate experience. You sweat the small stuff but keep the big picture in mind. You know that a job search is a challenging task and prioritize providing a more human experience for everyone that interacts with Whatnot during a hiring process.
- You are data-focused. You track pipeline health to balance your priorities and set hiring manager expectations. You'll be tasked with sharing trends, data, and learnings to our site leads in each country.
