We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual for a research associate position focused on optimizing and executing experiments related to verifying the specificity of novel gene editing systems as an integral member of the Genome Editing team. Candidates should be enthusiastic, curious, and have the desire to change the world. This role will be based in Emeryville, California

About the Role

  • Perform experiments to test new genome editing technologies in immortalized and clinically relevant mammalian cell lines in a high throughput manner
  • Perform in vivo molecular biology to assess the specificity of enzymes
  • Prepare nucleic acids and assay by PCR, qPCR, and NGS
  • Gather and analyze experimental data
  • Prepare accurate and timely data summaries, contribute to the writing of reports, and present findings to key stakeholders

Desired Qualifications

  • BS or MS in biology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant hand-on research experience using molecular biology skill sets
  • Substantial experience maintaining and transfecting mammalian cell lines
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of any scientific experimental plan, data and report
  • Track record of challenging oneself to enhance scientific skills and knowledge

The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $70,000 - $95,000 depending on the exact level of the role. As this role is open to candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, the exact salary will be dependent on the specific level of the position.
