We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate individual to elucidate the cell biology of novel gene editing tools as a member of the Mammalian Cell Translation team. The RA II/SRA Mammalian Cell Translation will play a pivotal role in understanding the cell biology of our novel tools to optimize their function, including implementing high-throughput pooled screens. You will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact as you partner with in silico biologists, protein engineering, automation, and pre-clinical teams in order to bring the next generation of gene editing therapies to patients. This role will be based in Emeryville, California
About the Role
- Optimize and execute high-throughput pooled screens to determine strategies to improve performance of editing systems
- Contribute to the design custom assays to assess impact of novel gene editing tools
- Work cross-functionally across Metagenomi to move findings forward
- Prepare accurate and timely data summaries and contribute to the writing of reports, papers, and patents
Desired Qualifications
- Undergraduate in Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or closely related discipline and at least three years of relevant biotech industry experience or advanced degree and at least one year of relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated scientific skills and knowledge of cloning, gene editing technologies, pooled and/or arrayed cell-based screening
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry or microscopy
- Effective oral and written communication, prioritization and organizational skills
- Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools (Google Suite, Slack)
- Highly collaborative, solutions oriented, and thrives in a fast-moving startup environment
The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $82,000-$115,000 depending on the exact level of the role. As this role is open to candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, the exact salary will be dependent on the specific level of the position.
