We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate on our Genome Editing team to optimize and execute experiments related to next-generation sequencing from sample preparation to data analysis. Candidates should be enthusiastic, scientifically curious, and have a desire to contribute to Metagenomi's scientific advancements. This role will be based in Emeryville, California.
How you’ll contribute:
- Prepare nucleic acids and assay by PCR, qPCR, and NGS
- Construct plasmids using recombinant DNA techniques
- Gather and analyze experimental data
- Prepare accurate and timely data summaries, contribute to writing of reports and present findings to key stakeholders.
What you bring:
- BS or MS in biology, genetics, molecular biology, or a related discipline
- At least one year of relevant research experience, using hands-on molecular biology skill sets, including:
- Experience preparing gene libraries for NGS and lab automation for NGS library prep
- Experience in trouble-shooting NGS library prep and data
- Experience performing 96-well plate-format assays
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Track record of challenging oneself to enhance scientific skills and knowledge
- The ability to thrives in a fast-moving, results-oriented startup environment with critical deadlines
- Experience working in a cross-functional, purpose-driven, collaborative team.
California Pay Transparency Disclosure:
This position is classified as an exempt position under the Federal Labor Standards Act. The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $70,000 - $85,000 You will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
