We are seeking a motivated and passionate Scientist to elucidate the cell biology of novel gene editing tools as a member of the Mammalian Cell Translation team. This position will play a pivotal role in understanding the cell biology of our novel tools to optimize their function, including designing, optimizing, and implementing high-throughput pooled screens.
You will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact as you partner with in silico biologists, protein engineering, automation, and pre-clinical teams in order to bring the next generation of gene editing therapies to patients. This role will be based in Emeryville, California
About the Role
- Design, optimize, and execute high-throughput pooled screens to determine strategies to improve the performance of editing systems
- Establish custom assays to deeply characterize the impact of novel gene editing tools on cell biology
- Work cross-functionally across Metagenomi to move findings forward
- Prepare accurate and timely data summaries and contribute to the writing of reports, papers, and patents
- Manage one or more direct reports
Desired Qualifications
- PhD degree in Molecular, Cell Biology or a related discipline
- Hands-on biotech industry experience with:
- mammalian cell culture, gene editing technologies, pooled and/or arrayed cell-based screening
- lentiviral workflows
- flow cytometry and/or NGS analysis
- Strong oral and written communication, prioritization and organizational skills
- Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools (Google Suite, Slack)
- Highly collaborative, solutions oriented, and thrives in a fast-moving startup environment
The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $115,000 - $130,000 depending on the exact level of the role. As this role is open to candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, the exact salary will be dependent on the specific level of the position.
