About this opportunity:
At Freenome, we are seeking a Senior Clinical Laboratory Associate to help grow the Freenome Clinical Laboratory Analytical team. The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, with attention to detail and is team oriented. This person is responsible for all things related to sample processing and equipment maintenance. You are passionate about making a direct impact on patient lives through attention to detail, diligence in the lab, and cooperative team work. You will have a significant impact on the continued growth of a high profile technology organization that is changing the landscape on early cancer detection.
The role reports to the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor.
What you’ll do:
- Perform equipment maintenance according to the laboratory’s standard operating procedures for the following but not limited to: centrifuges, freezers, refrigerators, pipettors, Fragment Analyzer, Microplate Reader, NovaSeqs, and Hamiltons as needed.
- Create sample batches, print labels and label tubes and plates.
- Maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment in the laboratory for performance of duties.
- Check, monitor and record temperature.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
- Perform annual review of standard operating procedures.
- Assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist with preparation and aliquoting of reagents.
- Assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist during sample testing.
- Participate in projects under the supervision of a CLS or Supervisor along with maintaining quality and efficient work flow of daily duties.
- Participate in cross-departmental projects.
- Assist with training of new laboratory personnel and training of new procedures with existing personnel.
- Assist with internal audits and inspection preparation, as needed.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining laboratory, equipment, personnel and training documents.
- Set-up the Hamilton and assist with Hamilton automated procedures.
- Ensure on-time calibration of laboratory equipment is scheduled and performed.
- Review equipment maintenance forms for completeness.
- Report all concerns of test quality and/or safety to the Supervisor or Safety Officer.
- Work closely with the CLS’s and Accessioning Teams to provide consistent and ongoing support to the entire service department .
- Write and revise standard operating procedures, as needed.
- Implement process improvement opportunities and report to laboratory management.
- Provide guidance for new Clinical Laboratory Associates, give constructive feedback and provide peer feedback for evaluations.
- Train new Clinical Laboratory Associates on all SOPs and maintenance pertaining to the Clinical Laboratory.
Must haves:
- Bachelors in biological sciences or related fields preferred.
- Four or more years of work experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Have working knowledge of local, state and federal laboratory regulations.
- Experience working with automated equipment/systems.
- Flexibility to variable shift start times depending on operational needs.
Nice to haves:
- High sample volume laboratory experience preferred.
Shifts:
- Normal Hours: 9:00-5:30pm
- Special Project - 5-6 months
- Training: first 3-weeks of employment - 9:00-5:30pm
- AM 7:00am-3:30pm
- PM 2:00pm-10:30pm
Benefits and additional information:
The US target range of our hourly range for new hires is $34.74 - $52.88 . You will also be eligible to receive pre-IPO equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits dependent on the position offered.
