We are seeking a Senior Director/Vice President, Corporate Communications to lead and manage the emerging Corporate Communications team at Metagenomi. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, this newly created position will expand and advance Corporate Communications strategies and tactics, identify opportunities, manage and direct public relations efforts. In partnership with Investor Relations, the Corporate Communications function is responsible for elevating Metagenomi’s communications programs, from brand initiatives to internal communications. This role will be in Emeryville, California.

About the Role

As a member of Metagenomi’s leadership team, you will lead the Corporate Communications function to partner and collaborate with cross-functional leaders to:

  • Develop corporate communications materials, including most press releases, Q&As, fact sheets, website content, executive talking points, social media materials etc., in collaboration with external agencies, corporate partners, and internal colleagues
  • Develop and execute a strategic vision that increases awareness of Metagenomi's overarching brand, upholds and enhances our corporate reputation, and strengthens our position as the leading industry partner and company to work for. Ensure the strategy is integrated and consistently articulated to all the organization’s stakeholders, including leadership, employees, media, industry leaders/influencers, community leaders, and the public.
  • Continue to build out and support conference and publication planning and conference SOP and guidelines for the company. Support public relations efforts at key events and meetings.
  • Supports programs in an effort to enhance our external reputation and thought leadership by developing certain press releases, digital/social content, and managing internal and external events. Contribute to the execution of corporate and disease awareness initiatives to further company goals and objectives. Develop and execute plans around employee engagement in the community as aligned to corporate strategy and our mission and vision.
  • Develop and uphold Company’s strategic messaging pillars, brand narrative, and mission, vision and values.
  • Support programs in an effort to enhance our external reputation and thought leadership by developing external facing documents, digital/social content, award submissions, website content, executive visibility opportunities and managing internal and external events.
  • Act as creative lead for the company - manage brand team and visual identity, maintain and evolve brand guidelines.
  • In tandem with the IR team - Contribute to six and 12 month PR calendar. Align on expected news flow with management teams in advance to take a proactive role in preparing for company announcements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree, advanced degree preferred
  • At least fifteen  years of progressive Corporate Communications experience (in-house and agency) in biopharma, cell therapy, gene editing, or closely related life science field
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Strong scientific background and deep industry knowledge in therapeutic discovery and development
  • Demonstrated ability to develop focused strategies and translatable actions, including
  • A strong track record of leading cross-functional teams and a passion for translating scientific discoveries into transformative therapeutics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially when collaborating with teams who have limited knowledge of your area of expertise
  • Extremely organized and able to efficiently manage your time and workflow, including skillfully prioritizing both long-term projects and day-to-day responsibilities
  • A highly collaborative and team-oriented approach to leadership, high self-awareness, and a passion for making a meaningful contribution to the field of genetic medicines through your work.

The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $240,000 to $290,000 depending on the exact level of the role. As this role is open to candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, the exact salary will be dependent on the specific level of the position.
