Role Purpose:

SRA’s MPS-Health Solutions Lab - Samsung strives to offer superior digital health products on our wearables and phones, backed by world-class research, technical, and manufacturing capabilities. As a cross-disciplinary health-focused product development team consisting of research, technology, design, strategy and product functions, we define the next generation of mobile health product and service experiences for Samsung devices.

As a Senior Engineer, you will be conducting physiological studies, including organizing and executing human data collections toward the development, verification, and validation of externally and internally developed devices, prototypes, and/or algorithms. In addition to leading clinical studies for the Health Solutions team, candidate will be involved in creating tools for data management and analysis. You will also author and maintain associated records and documentation for these studies.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Designs and leads execution of product-critical physiological studies to prove the safety and effectiveness of our devices according to good laboratory practice, following applicable health and safety principles and practices
  • Provide Support to Clinical Research Organization (CRO) during planning and execution of clinical studies
  • Develops and trains on junior associates on laboratory best practices and procedures for efficient, cohesive, and high-quality datasets
  • Creates and maintains appropriate study and human subject documentation/records
  • Performs clinical data analysis and provides statistical inferences as needed
  • Operates, maintains and trains others on physiological data collection laboratory equipment
  • Coach and mentor junior researchers and data technicians on planning and execution of studies & annotations
  • Work closely with IRB for clinical study planning including Informed Consent, protocols, etc.

Background, Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD Degree in Engineering/Sciences (Master’s preferred) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 3+ years of physiological data collection and analysis/clinical research experience (industry experience strongly preferred)
  • PC and Smartphone App (Android and iOS) skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applicable applications
  • Understanding of wearables/sensing technologies/health sensors
  • Sound understanding of clinical study protocol design and execution requirements in a regulated industry

Plus:

  • Experience working within medical device/regulated industry
  • Familiar with IRB study approval and HIPAA requirements, GCP
  • Hands on experience with Wearables/Health sensor technologies
  • Experience with SPSS/ Minitab or other statistical software with basic statistical understanding
  • Experience with Matlab and/or Python
  • Worked with clinical studies involving wearables

Our total rewards programs are designed to motivate and engage exceptional talent. The base pay range for roles at this level is $135,800 and $186,650 but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.
