About the role:

You will lead a team of GSM professionals working in the electrical component, PCBA, battery and motors space and owning the responsibility for developing new suppliers, supporting new product introductions and maintaining continuity of supply for existing products.  Additionally, this leader will be responsible for developing the systems and processes to allow for Skydio’s rapid growth and expansion will be a key deliverable for the role.  Skydio is launching new products, expanding production volumes and taking a leading role in optimizing the supply chain for lead time, tariffs, duties and country of origin. This role will have a major impact on the success of Skydio in these areas.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Lead a team of GSM professionals focused on EE, Electrical components, Semiconductors, Passives, PCBs and PCBA components
  • Provide strong technical leadership to the team in the respective commodity areas
  • Direct and manage the development of strategic roadmaps linked to relevant commodities, which includes identifying and pre-qualifying potential suppliers based on business requirements, supplier assessments and commodity market analysis.
  • Construct financial and qualitative models to assess suppliers’ ability to meet cost, delivery and technical requirements
  • Lead internal cross functional teams, including engineering, quality, planning and legal through sourcing selection process
  • Evaluate, develop and approve contracts thru the GSM team together with, Legal, Finance and Business partners for new suppliers
  • Drive commercial cost negotiations with suppliers to ensure best possible pricing; leveraging cost models and analysis on current market conditions
  • Assist the engineering and NPI teams with unique electronics sourcing requirements
  • Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships, cost, quality performance and service levels to support business requirements thru goal setting, KPI and other metrics with the GSM team
  • Consolidate fragmented global spend, reduce the use of non-strategic suppliers, and move sourcing activities earlier into the NPI process
  • Act as the sourcing expert in the electronics commodities space.
  • Deliver a seamless transition of viable new technologies into the product development process managing risks while meeting quality, schedule, and cost goals.
  • Collaborate internally, negotiate the right tradeoffs, solicit cooperation and resolve problems, and advance new supplier or product offerings.
  • Own the supplier performance management of their respective commodities, which includes key delivery, quality, cost, and innovation metrics.
  • Act as the primary commercial escalation for their respective commodity
  • Build a strong, diverse and  talented team to effectively manage the supply base to provide cost, delivery and technical capabilities to support existing and new products.

What makes you a good fit :

  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, engineering, operations or manufacturing roles
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading sourcing or supply chain teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Procurement; Master's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing a commodity management team including building cost models, TCO analysis, leading contract negotiations and completing supplier resourcing projects
  • Domain expertise in semiconductors, passives, sensors, PCB and PCBA
  • Strategic thinker, experienced putting together commodities strategy/roadmap with key engineering, finance, legal and production stakeholders
  • Proven leadership in driving and influencing other teams to a common goal.
  • Significant background with EE component demand-supply cycles with varied approaches in partnering with suppliers to ensure high demand-supply alignment in a volatile environment.
  • CPM, CSCP, CPSM, PMP certifications a plus
  • Experience supporting the launch of new product introductions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross functional stakeholders and leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change; effectively build diverse high performing teams and model high performance standards.

Compensation Range:

  • The annual base salary range for this position is $180,000 - 245,000*.  Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.
