We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic individual with expertise in human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture and differentiation to join our Cell Therapy team. This position will play a crucial role in generating clinically-relevant iPSC-derived immune cell types. This role will be based in Emeryville, CA .
About the Role
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include:
- Design and execution of iPSC-differentiation protocols into immune cells
- Proficiency in aseptic cell culture techniques including thawing and passaging cells, cryopreservation
- Characterization of iPSC-derived immune cell types using a wide range of assays including q-PCR, flow cytometry and microscopy
- Analyze data using ImageJ, Flowjo and Prism
- Contribute to in vitro assay design and optimization
- Present findings and data analysis in research meetings
You will have a chance to demonstrate your ability to:
- Perform complex iPSC-differentiations to generate iPSC-derived immune cells
- Become an expert in all facets of iPSC cell culture, including maintenance, differentiation, and reprogramming
- Participate in tech transfer of research-grade protocols to GMP
- Collaborate with other scientists to generate a clinical-grade iPSC-product
The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $100,000 - $130,000 depending on the exact level of the role. As this role is open to candidates with a wide range of skills and experience, the exact salary will be dependent on the specific level of the position. Desired Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a Life Sciences and at least two years of relevant laboratory experience in academia or industry
- Hands-on experience with undifferentiated iPSC culture, and maintenance is required
- Experience with in vitro differentiation of iPSC is required preferably towards NK and T cell lineages
- Molecular biology skills including mammalian cell DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-PCR/qPCR
- Familiarity with cellular biology techniques including flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, image analysis, and cell-based assays
- Demonstrated motivation to stay up-to-date on current stem cell techniques and protocols
- Experience with viral transduction and genomic editing using CRISPR a plus
- Ability to execute, troubleshoot and analyze experiments and to interpret results
- Precise documentation of procedures and results in compliance with Electronic Lab Notebook guidelines
- Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly when collaborating with other teams with limited knowledge of your area of expertise
- Extremely organized and able to efficiently manage your time and workflow, including skillfully prioritizing both long-term projects and day-to-day responsibilities
- Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools (ex: Google Suite, Slack, etc.)
- Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and considerate of the needs of others
- Thrives in a fast-moving, results-oriented startup environment with urgent deadlines
- Independent and self-sufficient, but knows when to ask questions or seek support
- Self-motivated, passionate about your work, and eager to continuously learn more.
