Essential Duties:
HRL has opened the Vision Systems Lab with the mission to take HRL technical innovations directly to market through the build and delivery of disruptive products. Our product portfolio is focused on IR sensors for aerospace and defense applications. This role is to work as part of a multidisciplinary team bridging interfaces and acting as the glue between the various expertise.
A successful candidate can capture customer requirements, advance a build and verification plan through the product builds, and proactively troubleshoot and anticipate problems. Responsibilities begin with mapping of customer needs, tracing these to system architecture and R&D efforts within the organization. This includes assisting in road mapping, product definition, and advancing the necessary maturation and risk reduction activities. The role requires strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills. Many tasks will require leading technical investigations and troubleshooting efforts, performing data analysis and regressions, modelling, proposing succinct solutions and recommendations, and developing and improving verification criteria. A key responsibility entails the sign off and delivery of various technical milestones through the product development.
Required Skills:
Strong hands-on experience with one or more of the following areas; delivery of components to NASA and Military standards, System Engineering techniques, data analysis, statistical regression techniques. Familiarity with wafer fab or packaging processes, microelectronic components design, camera system design. Proficiency in standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Office and ERP tools. Proficiency in programing/numeric computing, statistical, and modelling software. Understanding of IR camera sensors and their constituent sub-components as well as their applications and use. Familiarity with imaging customer’s needs, and barriers to tech insertion and new product adoption. A demonstrated track record of teamwork and collaboration.
Required Education:
3+ year experience in component and device technology R&D. Formal training and hands on experience in one of the following disciplines; Physics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $104,000 - $174,000 + bonus + benefits.
