Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.

We are looking for a software engineer to help us develop future of quantum information technologies.  Scientists and engineers at HRL use our quantum software development kit everyday to better operate, understand, and advance our devices. As a software engineer on the quantum control team you will be responsible for developing software for the automation and characterization of our devices.

Essential Duties:
•Build software for automating complex sequences of experiments.
•Design and implement algorithms for accurately calibrating and benchmarking quantum devices.
•Build rich visualizations to exhibit device characteristics and performance.
•Collaborate with data engineering team to collect and organize data so that it can be readily used to understand and advance our quantum device technologies.

Required Skills:
•5+ years relevant software engineering experience.
•Proficiency in Python.
•Experience with leading open source Python packages such as Pandas, NumPy, Plotly, etc.
•Experience with one or more relational database system.
•Experience with software engineering practices such as version control and continuous integration.
•Solid understanding of core computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and computer architectures.
•Familiarity with an experimental physics discipline, quantum-related a bonus.

Special Requirements:
US Citizenship.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $104,000 - $174,000 + bonus + benefits.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
