The Platform Automation Engineering (PAE) team is an agile group of software engineers focused on building cutting-edge automation solutions and core systems, which drive scalability and reliability of Hivemind software and SAI products. The team is focused on advancing Shield AI’s ability to perform integration testing, automate robotics production, and improve development efficiency. The team is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead successful execution of the team’s charter, plus manage the career growth and performance of individuals on the team.

Salary Range:  Base + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)

Location guidelines-
Onsite = 5 days/week
Hybrid = Several days in the office
Remote = Remote but able to come to the office as requested for business needs

    • As the PAE team lead, you will work at the intersection of embedded systems, robotics, and automation.
    • You will work on core systems and SDKs for automation, manufacturing software, and user-facing tooling.
    • You will work alongside technical leads to establish best practices/standards for software engineering and the integration of embedded systems with autonomy software.
    • You will lead the team to build solutions that cover a wide-breadth, spanning across production bring up, developer tools, automated sensor calibrations, and automated integration testing.
    • We are looking for a leader, passionate about clean architecture and automated testing, who has experience in autonomy software, robotics manufacturing, or test automation.
    • Suite of tools/applications for configuring, testing, and calibrating V-BAT aircrafts during production bring up
    • Hardware in the loop solutions for integration testing V-BAT platforms and avionics
    • Test infrastructure to enable automated integration testing of Hivemind software
    • Build an automation application to drive a portable Propulsion Test Stand
    • Applications to automate common interactions with V-BAT platforms and Hivemind software
    • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum of 4 years of real-world experience building automation solutions for software regression testing or production bring up / robotics manufacturing.
    • C++ knowledge Python knowledge Linux knowledge Software management tools (Git, AzureDevOps/Jira, Artifactory)
    • Experience with robotics or avionics integration and related ecosystem(s)
    • Expertise with a majority of the technology above Experience managing software teams or projects
    • Experience with architecting multi-component software applications that involve GUIs, embedded systems, databases, and various app-specific software dependencies
    • Experience with development tools for CI/CD B.S. in Computer Engineering, similar degree, or equivalent practical experience
    • You have a demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others
    • You are capable of managing cross-functional software projects and achieving high quality execution
    • You are passionate and capable in managing team growth and performance management
    • You can make great plans to resource and roadmap projects to maximize business impact balanced with high quality engineering
