Propulsion is one of the foundational technologies that determines the overall performance and reliability of the VBAT platform. We seek a subject matter expert to guide the development and test of our VBAT propulsion system technologies.

Salary Range:  Base + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)
Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. Information on the benefits offered is here. All offers are contingent on a cleared background check.

Location guidelines-
Onsite = 5 days/week
Hybrid = Several days in the office
Remote = Remote but able to come to the office as requested for business needs

    • Lead design and analysis activities related to aircraft engines, engine components, and fuel systems.
    • Lead the development and execution of propulsion system test plans including fuel system, propulsion performance characterization, reliability/maintainability testing, aerodynamic performance characterization, thermal management, and acoustic performance.
    • Collaborate with external propulsion development suppliers to support the development and testing of propulsion technologies.
    • Produce technical reports to capture and communicate the findings of the propulsion system testing and analysis.
    • Perform system, subsystem, and component trade studies.
    • Execute the development and release of detailed design documents including CAD models, 2D drawings, assembly instructions, acceptance test plans and other design artifacts.
    • Use data and analysis to set acceptance criteria for production and engineering propulsion hardware testing.

    • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
    • 5-10 years of relevant experience inpropulsion design
    • Mastery of fundamentals for internal combustion engines
    • Demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others
    • Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Propulsion/Combustion focus)
