THE ROLE
The TLM will lead Software Engineers as well as Production Engineers on our team in Shenzhen, China. You will lead the team to complete key software project initiation, planning, development, testing, delivery, and follow-up support. Set up and implement the specification of software non-functional requirements. Being responsible for or participating in core code writing and review is part of your daily routine. Of course, as a manager, you should collaborate with other functions well and serve as point of contact with other leaders in other offices.
This will be a hands-on leadership role and requires physical presence in the office for most of the time.
YOU WILL
Lead a team of passionate software engineers and production engineers.
Build mission-critical software, from robotic systems to cloud infrastructure, with attention to performance, reliability, security, and code quality.
A significant chunk of your time will be spent on actual implementation, design discussions and code reviews.
Participate in or drive complex, in-depth design discussions between engineering teams in Shenzhen and Silicon Valley.
Collaborate with, learn from, and support a diverse and cross-functional team, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, AI/ML researchers, and deployment teams.
YOU HAVE
Core requirements
Experience in designing, building, deploying and maintaining complex production-trade systems.
Technical leadership experiences: a solid understanding of software-design principles, API design, and platform architecture and experience leading a team and mentoring both junior and senior SWEs.
An impact-driven mindset - willingness to work in a variety of technical areas as needed, to solve real problems, and deliver business impact.
Basic proficiency in Python programming language and familiarity with concurrent programming in different languages.
Fluent in English communication.
Nice to haves
Working experience in international companies in China.
People management experiences in companies with similar values (learning constantly, striving for empathy and taking on the impossible, together).
Experiences working in related fields, such as autonomous driving, cyber-physical systems, etc.
