Position Summary:

Samsung Research America is seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual to join our Digital Health team as a Technical Program Director (TPD) and be a core part of a passionate team charged with developing and launching toolset of health APIs to build applications for research studies and clinical services that will transform the future of healthcare. We are looking for a TPD with a proven track record of developing and shipping high quality heath SDKs/APIs and driving highly complex, cross-functional feature sets with both research and commercial product team.

You will help define and build platforms that can scale across Android ecosystem and create innovative opportunities for the future of Digital Health in research and care services. The TPD needs to have a solid understanding of research & development lifecycle, strong knowledge of healthcare research studies with varying levels of data collection and interact with all engineering, research, design disciplines, data analysis, legal, business development, operations, and other project management teams. You will establish strategy & roadmaps and maintain communication with internal stakeholders as well as external developer communities / research partners; ensure milestones and deliverables are executed within project timelines; understand and manage multi-functional organization; communicate and lead project meetings and generate progress report and present to senior management on project status and schedules.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and direct cross-functional programs, facilitating relationships across multiple teams to identify risks, manage dependencies, and optimize resources.
  • Understand technology requirements, roadmap, dependencies, evolution, and develop a plan for mitigating risks and delivering features that meet the requirements across multiple products.
  • Establish expertise in the technology area, becoming the go-to escalation point for execution, leader for driving visibility across the program, and orchestrator for managing the integration across your program area.
  • Resolve conflicts, maintain clarity on priorities, and drive progress on execution.
  • Drive technical excellence within the team, coordinating and contributing to engineering deliverables including architectural diagrams, specifications, launch criteria, and test plans.
  • Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment.

Experience Requirements:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of technical program management, software engineering, or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience building SDKs/APIs and health data integration.
  • Demonstrated experience to lead execution across highly ambiguous, complex products and programs, with experience making technical and product tradeoffs balancing business needs and technical constraints. Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope.
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrating critical thinking, and thought leadership.
  • Experience in leading complex execution across multiple teams in different time zones, anticipating roadblocks and creating a path forward.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
  • Proven communicator who can translate high-level goals into tangible action plans, and vice-versa & expertise communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Our total rewards programs are designed to motivate and engage exceptional talent. The base pay range for roles at this level is $170,700 and $265,600 but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.
