Scientists and engineers at HRL use our quantum software development kit every day to advance our quantum device technology, which includes state-of-the-art developments featured in top scientific journals. As a Technical Project Manager on the quantum software team, you will be responsible for working with software leads, users, and stakeholders to develop and manage the quantum software technology roadmap.
Essential Duties:
Manage and evolve our unique agile software development process.
Track and manage schedule to ensure milestones are met and define pathways to mitigate risk.
Manage the documentation and communication of software requirements, goals, schedules, and plans.
Lead technical design reviews with engineering teams to ensure engineering robustness, identify risks and problems and proactively finds solutions, and drive clear actionable plans to close gaps.
Align strategic and engineering initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, and timelines. Demonstrate ability to negotiate and adjust project scope with stakeholders.
Required Skills:
5+ years of professional software experience with 3+ years directly managing software engineering projects. Expertise with project management tools and methodologies.
Solid understanding of core computer science fundamentals including operating systems, compilers, data structures, and algorithms.
Experience working on projects with a hardware component such as robotics, FPGAs, microprocessors, etc.
Proficiency in multiple programming languages.
Proficiency with version control and CI/CD.
Excellent communication skills; includes oral and written.
Detailed-oriented, excellent planning and organization skills.
Ability to build partnerships and drive decision making with cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or Physics with 8+ years of professional experience. PMP certification a plus.
Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must have or be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $163,150 - $209,088 + bonus + benefits.
